I have a two year old Intel D845GLLY mobo with a P4 - 1.7mhz that I am trying to assemble and use as a second computer. This mobo was working fine when it came out of its origonal home.

I added a new 200 gb seagate hdd that I partitioned and formated on my other computer which is running WIN XP PRO sp2. I understood from the seagate instructions that I needed to do that to enable the 200 gb disk capability. I did not make it a boot partition. That all seemed to work fine, at least the seagate installation software was happy.

At start-up, I entered the mobo BIOS to make the CD-ROM drive the boot drive to load the WIN XP PRO OS but it would not change the existing boot settings which called for the boot in this order:
 1. fdd,
 2. hdd,
 3. CD drive.

I called Microsoft service and they said I needed to make the CD-ROM the first boot and that it was a hardware problem not a os problem but they said I needed to update the BIOS. Sooo, I went to the Intel web site, downloaded the flash BIOS update for this mobo, created the BIOS Upgrade Floppy Diskette and installed it following the Intel instructions.

That was the last time I saw any blinking lights on my monitor. I have even followed the BIOS recovery procedure changing the Flash Recovery jumper and running the BIOS Upgrade Floppy Diskett per Intel instructions. I pulled the battery, power supply, drives, and memory from the mobo and then went through the procedure again but no effect.

Have I totally sent this mobo to the great beyond? Thanks for any help and suggestions in advance.
