I'm thinking that it may also may be a difective RAM.  When you reboot does 
the
memory test run completley?  If you do not see the memory test run, it may 
be that
"QUICK POWER ON SELF TEST" in the system BIOS is ENABLED.
If this is the case, enter BIOS at boot up and change the value to DISABLED, 
save and reboot.
Pehaps this may show something.  If not, well ......? try something else.
