You could have had the bad luck of having two problems at the same
time.  The CMOS error will remain until you can get to the CMOS setup to
correct the values and save them.  If the CPU is not responding to the
keyboard it could also be a bad connector to the keyboard.  I have worked
on machines that through stresses on the keyboard cable, the connector has
cracked the solder joints to the motherboard.  What lights do you see on
the keyboard as you power on?  Any flashes?  Also can you "wiggle" the
cable where it goes into the computer to see if there is any indication of
an intermittent connection?
