If I am not mistaken, you will have to install XP after installing all
other OSs. There is something in the boot loader that XP needs that will
be removed if you install another OS after XP has been loaded. I ran
into this myself, but have not researched it much. My solution was to
just have XP on my computer and run Linux under XP using VMWare.

hey everyone,
I recently built a computer with windows xp and linux red hat. I
installed windows xp on hard drive "0", followed by red hat on hard disk
"1". I can boot up linux fine, but i am unable to boot up windows xp.
Do i need a boot disk, or is there a way to make a screen pop up similar
to in win 98 where after an error i could choose between "safe" and
"normal" mode?

thanks

Did you install a boot manager with Linux (either GRUB or Lilo)? During
installation of Red Hat you can choose where to put the boot manager and
if you choose hda1(Your hard drive "0") it will give you a menu, that
you can include Windows on, when you boot up. I think this works with
XP. I use Boot Magic, which comes with Partition Magic, with Win98 and
Win2k and a couple of linux distributions.
