Hello,
I just received a Quantam Bigfoot 1.2 GB hard disk drive. The BIOS
detected the drive without any problems. I tried to run FDISK on the drive
and at 2% of checking the drive integrity I got the message : Write Protect
Error Writing Fixed Disk. FDISK shows the primary DOS partition to be
active so I went ahead and tried to format the drive. When I tried to
format the drive I got the message : Invalid Media or Track 0 Bad - Disk
Unusuable. I am using a Windows 95 boot disk to prepare the hard drive,
the same one I use when preparing all my hard drives. The hard drive is
susposed to be new. Is the disk bad? I have never run into this problem
before. Thanks for your help.
