That happened to me with XP Pro to the point that I spent 3 days trying to install it and failed.  Finally I removed the memory and inserted them one at a time until the setup would keep running.  I had an incompatible SDRAM. When it was removed the install was glitch free.  That may not be your problem, but it worked for me.  Another issue may be that your memory/cPU are too hot.  I tried removing the side of the case and blowing a big house fan on it.  Whatever works.  Another possibility is a bad channel on your power supply.
