I keep my PC cover off too, and I have a 7" fan aimed directly to the
motherboard, HD, all the cards. The whole area is just warm to touch
including a TNT card, a couple of HDs. My CPU temperature is below 39 C
with the Fan, around 41 without the fam. I have a 10000 rpm SCSI hard
drive. Before using the fan, it is hot to touch even with a $31 HD cooling
system. Now, it's just wam. I wish I had tried the $10 fan before I bought
the cooling system. The only drawback is it probably uses a lot of
electricity. Well, I'm a little bit off topic from running with the cover
off. Yes, keep the cover off and put a fan to it is the best cooling system
you can find...
