That's depending on what you want to do with the computer. If you play
powerful 3D games, onboard stuff is totally not acceptable. If you play
internet games, onboard modem should never be used (also avoid to use
soft/win modem, eg. almost every internal modems). If you only want a
computer that does normal office task, you can save your money.

*onboard network adapter can be tricky too, to get better/reliable
networking performance, use a brand name Network card (the real card), I
prefer 3com.
