I am in a quagmire. I am trying to install windows 98 on a computer using the boot disk and the CD ROM. During the installation, one line reads: Scanning system registry Copying files needed for Windows Setup
Kernel: Unable to initialize heap. This is ocurring on a Dell Dimensions 4100 box with a pentium III processor and 256 MB RAM. I suspect that windows ME was previous installed. I used fdisk to partition the HD and the unit was formatted. I tried to load windows 2000 and was also unsuccessful. What could be causing this problem and what is the solution? Could it be the chipset driver?
