Ray,
You don't have to have a router and a hub, you can use a proxy program such
as Winproxy and a second card in your computer which would make your
computer the Gateway. (We have never had much luck with this setup)another
way is to buy an old computer and have it be the gateway using a proxy
program, it is sometimes cheaper that way.

The way we do ours is to buy an inexpensive router, we use netgear, and an
inexpensive hub, both can be 10 based(they do not have to be 10/100). The
router is what holds your modems IP address and then will automatically set
IP addresses for all the computers that are connected to it, so there is not
a lot of setup. The one we use will allow up to 256 computers connected to
it. When you are looking for a router and hub, tech support is very
important in case you have problems, they can talk you through it.

> Currently have one computer on @home cable modem service. I realize I will
need another ethernet card for another computer but what else. WHAT AM I
TRYING TO DO? I need to hook up my daughter's computer to my cable
connection, DO I need a router and hub? One.both? What is a good brand,
type? Do I need the same brand/type ethernet card as the one presently in my
cable computer now? Advise needed....is it difficult to get both of these
going?
