HI.

You can buy very nice 17" LCD's for under $400.00
Many advantages to them. Actual cost is less over the life of the
monitor

Thanks and have a Great Day!

Joe Lore

I have a 5 year old Gateway EV 700 model monitor. Lately, it has been
making occasional "snap", "crackle", and "pop" sounds. The screen has
an accompanying split-second blackout and then it returns to normal
operation. Those noises can be quite loud. Is this an unsafe
situation? If this needs repair, would it be more cost-effective to just
purchase a new one? I may be jumping the gun, but if that seems a
potential outcome, what brand names are the best for a modest price?
Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance,
