There is another solution, but only recommended on small private networks.
On Windows 2000, there is a "guest" account. By default it is disabled. If
you enable it, then you will have unlimited access to its shares.

Be aware that this may not be secure. It may also open a hole if you are
connected to the internet and don't have a firewall.
