If you do it this way, are you still not stuck with FAT 16 rather than FAT 32, and won't you still have all the problems that came with using the upgrade disk rather than doing a clean install?  How about hardware issues based upon a system old enough to be running Win 95 as an original install.  I used the Win 98 upgrade disk (which I still have) to upgrade Win 95B to Win 98.  It took me another year of tweaking and updating to get rid of the remnants of Win 95's ancient system files, and all the problems that caused. By the time I had Win 98's upgrade running right, it crashed, and then I did a clean install using the Win 98 upgrade disk. Worked a whole lot better until it crashed.  There really is no substitute for a clean install.
