Gerry, I actually did finally get rid of the checksum error. I took the mobo battery
out and put it back and it cleared it. Doesn't really makes sense because I'd done
this already once or twice before but oh well.  I then installed a new ME but have
had problems similar to what your describing. I noticed that at boot I'm getting
a beep too which I think means there's a hardware conflict or something in the
bios but I don't know does anyone else know?
When I install my ATI drivers for my All-in-wonder I get a message like ..has
discovered attributes of your system that may cause a problem with display or
play back or something.  I have had to reformat and reinstall 3 times now and
still don't have it running.  I get an error message after I install new programs
that there is an error in the registry, windows will now correct the problem and restart
your machine. When it does my E: and F: drives disappear, my dvd and cdrw. Great!
I can't figure out how to get them back without reinstalling. It's like there is not
a trace of them anywhere on the system and this last install my ati display disappeared
and I can't get it back either and of course with now cd drives I can't reinstall the drivers.
So I end up starting from scratch.  This is fun! NOT.
Gerry, I don't think its a memory module but I guess it's possible. I got my memory
from STEP-Thermodynamics, 256 mb 2400 pc ddr and they test it thoroughly before
they ship it but of course they tested my FIC mobo before they shipped it too and I had
to send it back. So maybe I'll check it out. Thanks, Jeff
