Have you booted into safemode DOS prompt and checked the partitions with
FDISK?  Look to see if there are any non-DOS partitions listed.  If there
are any, you can delete them and re-partition them.

Chances are the BIOS / Chipset only supports a 2 GB max. partition size.  If
you don't want to mess with a BIOS upgrade, you will most likely partition
the remaining space into 2 GB partitions.
