I am setting up a PC to use a internal removable 270 MB Syquest EZdrive as
a backup medium. I am not going to be using any backup compression software
as the amount of data to be backed up is small and a xcopy batch file will
suffice. I am however doing a AUTOTEST format of the drive each and every
time prior to the xcopy command. I am doing this not only to clear the
drive but also as a error checking mechanism. This backup procedure will
take place every few days and brings to mind a question that until the
proliferation of portable hard drives and their use as backup devices was
never really an issue............is there any degradation to a hard drive
when repeatedly formatting it ?

Thanks
Mark
