After getting shocked touching other things around the house, I agree
that it's probably static buildup.   I like your suggestion about the
bucket of water.   I moved one of my aquariums right next to my desk.
Hopefully that will help.

I've forgotten that I carry a lot of static electricity.   I've gotten
used to the fact that when I get out of the car, I almost always get
shocked.   Last week I even brought a little bought of anti-static spray
with me to the store since I get shocked whenever I take anything down
from the shelves.   The spray didn't work so I'm not sure where I should
put it.   (I put it on my socks before I left and sprayed my arms before
going into the store.)

I'm just glad that it wasn't my mouse because I've gotten very fond of
it and don't want to replace it.  :-)
