Hi everyone,
Well, for a few years now this group has helped me keep my "PackardHell" 166mhz P1 going but, I'm happy to say I retired it yesterday! Now I could use help with my new / used system. I now have an HP Pavilion 6465, 433mhz PII, 96mb ram. I was able to take the HDD (that this group assisted me in installing in my old system) and put it in as a slave to transfer all my files I wanted. It worked like a charm. I would like to leave this other HDD in this HP for backup purposes but, when I install it as a slave my CDROM disappears? My CDROM was usually drive M but, when I install the slave HDD I end up with drives A, C, D and no M(CDROM). I've checked all jumper settings and tried "cable select" on them both with no success. Since this is a mini tower case the only ribbon that would reach this HDD is the secondary IDE. I had it in as the secondary IDE slave with the CDROM as the master. Would I be better off puting it as the secondary IDE master and the CDROM as the slave? or should I be making the HDD the primary IDE slave?

Your input is appreciated and respected,
Gregg Pfaff
