Hi Vanessa,

The other things to try are re-socketing the CPU and making sure the MB is
not being shorted to the standoffs. If it still doesn't work, the CPU or MB
could be bad.

Subject: Re: [PCBUILD] No Video after installing new MSI motherboard

Thanks for your response.  But there is no video card. I have nothing in the
PCI slots. I'm using onboard video. Just to make sure that the onboard video
was not a problem, I tried installing a video card, but got the same amber
colored light on the monitor.  I tried re-seating the ram, I've tried a
brand new stick of ram. I've tried leaving the hard drive unhooked, I've
tried a new power supply. This MSI G31M3-F v2   board is an Intel socket
775.  The specs are: • 2 DIMMs w/ DDR2 667/800 upto 4GB
• 1 PCI-E 16X; 2 PCI-; 8 USB
• 10/100 LAN; SATAII up to 4; ATA 133
• MSI Dual CoreCenter; Live Update
• 9.6 in (L) x 7.6 in (W) Micro-ATX

The tech guy at Fry's told me that the DDR2 4200 (533) ram that I have will
be compatible with this board.  Is that true being that the specs state it
supports DD2 667/800?

Thanks for your help,

Vanessa H.

What have you tried so far? What other components are installed?
Double-check that all the components are properly seated, especially the
Video Card and its connections.

I've just installed a new MSI motherboard in a system that the previous
board went bad. I have 1 stick of DDR2 4200. Once I press the power
button,
my monitor says no signal and the screen stays black. All fans are
running,
but I can't see a thing. Please help

Kind regards,
Vanessa Henderson
