Pete,

OK, had me guessing for a minute trying to figure out what a "PIV" is (brain
gap).  A socket 478 Pentium IV will fit in the socket, no problem.  You will
need to buy an appropriate heat sink and fan.  You will also need to check
the motherboard's manual to see if it will auto detect the CPU or will you
need to manually adjust jumpers and BIOS settings.

i have an FIC motherboard with a celeron 1.7 mghz, 478 pin processor, but im
wanting to put a PIV in its place. can i simply pull out the celeron and put
a PIV in its place, assuming the PIV is a 478 job?
