Memory upgrade problems:

I am trying to upgrade the memory fitted to a Supermicro P6DLS motherboard,
fitted with a Pentium II processor (Sorry, I'm not at the machine at the
moment and can't remember the speed)

It currently has 32meg fitted.

I have tried a PC100 64 meg simm, the system failed to boot, initially the
full amount of memory is shown, following the POST a message "Windows
Protection Fault - You need to restart the system" appears.

I restart the sytem into Safe Mode, then restart into Normal Mode, this time
the boot is successful but only the original 32meg is registering.

I think it may be due to a miss match between the simm's, would removing the
original simm and fitting two simm's of the same size cure the problem?

I have even tried transplanting a 32meg simm from another PC but got the
same result.

Any and all advice will be welcome.
