I run this on my netbook (dual boot with the XP Home that came
preinstalled). The only limitation I've run into is that there has been
no linux driver for the built-in Ethernet port, but wireless works well,
and a USB Ethernet adaptor was not expensive. I was pleasantly
surprised with how easy it was to write the ISO to a flash drive and
boot from that to do the install.

I've installed Ubuntu 10.4 on my ancient desktop and my Netbook (Using
Ubuntu Netbook Remix) and I believe it's a good solution for those who
are tired of spyware and viruses.
I especially suggest it for those who have a spare desktop or laptop
or children who have a knack for downloading spyware. (I see this a
lot).
The install instructions couldn't be simpler, or you can order a CD if
you're not up to burning an iso file.
It's got everything you need for surfing, playing music and uploading
pictures. It will prompt you to install any additional software for
these purposes and includes automatic daily updates. Use package
manager to find thousands of additional programs.
I've networked it with my Win 7 machine and it also shares printers
easily.
Go for it. You have nothing to lose but your security suite.
