Well not exactly true at this point about SATA CD-DVD drives. Top notch

I use both interfaces on my ASUS board, A7N8X E Deluxe.

You can use both.  In fact, if you want to be able to use a CD Rom or a
DVD Rom, you will *have* to use both, as CD/DVD Rom drives don't come
with a Serial ATA interface (for the moment).
