Richard -

A couple of years ago, I got an adaptec 19160 PCI
SCSI adapter, primarily to run a fast seagate cheetah
hard drive. It's the "workstation" version of their 29160n
"server" version card. I've been quite satisfied. It might
be out of date now, but at the time it was just what I
wanted. It provided ultra lvd scsi, but at the same time
was backward compatible with scsi 2. (I may have the
details of the terminology mixed up here.) It was also
significantly less expensive than the 29160n card, which
offered no advantages for my workstation use.

Good luck.
