This happened to a friend of a friend of a friend. They brought the computer to me to look at. I took out the drive and was able to get the drive "flap" out with tweezers and the little spring that went with it. The plastic parts are very flimsy. Just be careful putting it back together. When I did it the little spring "blasted off" to the other side of the room. Found it, and all is well. But, as others have said, if the drive is damaged, they're inexpensive, just buy another. I have a floppy drive on my own computer that the front cover always falls off (only a few months old), but I'm not too concerned about it since I rarely use it and it doesn't affect its performance.
