External drive cases are common for SCSI devices but not IDE.
The biggest problem you will have with IDE devices is cable length.
You should not exceed 18 inches total length of a IDE Ribbon Cable. This is
barely enough to work with inside the case....let alone outside the case.
If you do exceed this length you put your data at risk and may suffer
reduced performance.
