I don't recommend using a screwdriver because of the scratches that Rick
mentioned.  Credit card or similar piece of plastic slid carefully along
the joint usually serves to pop it loose without damage.

With fairly long and strong nails, I use the side of my thumbnails.
Works like a charm and saves reaching for a tool.  I agree with all the
other advice.
