Hello,

With all due respect, HP sells their cartridges individually. This is
true for the 1200, 1600 and 2000.You can buy each color according to
your needs. I always buy in proportion: 2 blue, 2 red, 3 black and 1
yellow. Since they are readily available I do not usually keep more than
one in reserve. Ink costs with the HP 1200 are less than half of the
cost of the Epson 850. The Epson cartridge always runs out of one color
first, obviously.

On the other hand, my time is worth so much more than a little ink...I
rarely consider this question.
