I pre-ordered some Win7s, but can't be bothered running the RC as
I'm 100% XP-Pro, and they will not update/upgrade directly,
at least in a way supported by MS.

So, assuming things didn't change much,
Vista has a number of buried power settings for all sorts of things.
Seems like 25 (or a hundred) in the very advanced section.
More in a Laptop.

Very often my computer looks real off, but is in a deep sleep
that IT comes out of easily. Even the "decorative" case lights
go off.

This will sound like a dumb question, but are you actually
doing hard shutdowns?
