Paul, I am not positive, but it seems to me that the EZ-Drive software
would be part of the boot sector information. If you made the IBM drive
as the new boot device, the computer no longer has the translation
information to read the WD drive. Have you tried to put the WD back as
master and boot from it? If you did not mess with its boot partition,
then it should still work and you can then access your information. Save
the data and then mess with the drive.

Downloaded Western Digital's drive overlay software (forgotten the name)
and removed EZ-bios from the IBM drive.  In the process, it gave the
option to "upgrade" EZ-bios or abort.  I upgraded.  I am absolutely sure
I chose the IBM drive for this process (WD's software called it drive
2).

Unplugged the Maxtor drive, made the IBM the master, and installed Win
ME.

Well, when putting the Maxtor back in as slave, I can't access it.
Fdisk sees a "non-DOS" partition.
