The Windows 98 boot disk will enable CD-Rom support if the CD-Rom is an ATAPI
drive.  If it is propritory like an older Mitsumi etc. you must secure from
the mfg. website and load drivers for the CD-Rom from the DOS Prompt.

Some virus issues cannot be easily cleaned once the virus has spread if the
virus program is loaded after the infection; even a simple virus like
WIN95C111.  And if you are not able to clean the drive or if the virus
program keeps becoming disabled I would format and start over with a fresh
install of your software.
