This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but it might work. When you
installed the new motherboard, did you install the new
motherboard-to-port connectors that came with the new board? I've
learned (the hard way) that these are not standardized, so that if you
used the connectors from the old motherboard, there is a chance that the
the mouse isn't recognized because the relationships between the
conductors from the mouse and the conductors on the motherboard are out
of sync.
