PC2100 is 2.1GB/s divided by 64bit(8 bytes) to net a bandwidth of 266 Mhz
PC2700 is 2.7GB/s divided by 64bit(8 bytes) to net a bandwidth of 333 Mhz
Old rambus in comparison can deliver 3.2 GB/s and 400 Mhz with the right chipset.

Just keep in mind raising the speed limit doesn't make your car go faster. The car
still has to be able to perform.

In addition your memory controller hub(chipset) must be able to support the ram
you intend to use, 200, 266, or 333 Mhz DDR to get the benefit of a higher bandwidth.
