My CD-ROM is currently H: and before that was G: I haven't had a problem
with using the CD-ROM with any drive letter.  The recommendation in fact
is to move the CD-ROM up higher so that when you add new hard drives you
don't have to re-install all of the software that had a pointer to the
CD-ROM drive.
