Is this a SCSI or parallel-port model?  Parallel-port devices do not show
up as new hardware in Windows.  The drivers simply use the existing
parallel port device.  Was a graphics program included to use the scanned
images?  You should be able to start it and use the File ... Acquire option
or something like it to get to the scanner.
