Kevin,

I don't have any experience with this type of file myself, but on my Windows
98 partition *usb.cat* is a small file (< 6KB) found in
C:\WINDOWS\CATROOT\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE} along a 20 or so
related files (*usb.cat* is designated as a security catalog). The identity
{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE} is specific to my computer and should
be a different, but similar, alphanumeric string on other Windows
installations.

The entire directory is 259 KB (on my machine) and its purpose (I believe)
is to function as a Microsoft Windows USB hardware compatibility reference
guide for USB devices.

The file isn't hidden on my machine's installation. Sorry, but I can't tell
you where to find it on the Windows CD/ROM without doing some more
exploring.

Subject: [PCBUILD] pci usb upgrade card

I have a Dell 200Mhz Pentium running Windows 98se. I am trying to add a PCI
USB upgrade card. I get to the point where Windows is installing drivers,
then it says it can't find "usb.cat". I have searched my entire computer and
the Windows CD. Anyone know where this file is hidden?
