I think you should also consider a third alternative....
switching to an NT based network.

If you follow the industry news, then you should know that Novell has been
trouble for many years now. Bad management,  poor decisions, and rapid
turnover of key upper management personnel, have literally torn the company
apart.  Many experts believe that Novell will cease to exist within the next
few years.
