Well, I already anticipate a flow of opinions on this one :)

IMHO, in your system the limiting factor (besides the graphics) is the CPU
and the performance benefit of the top cards (Geforce DDR etc.) will not
be visible much over the the budget solutions.

My recommendation is to get a $100-150 card (TNT2 and Voodoo 3 on the
lower side, GeForce MX or Voodoo 4 on the higher side) and another 64
(~$35) or 128 Mb (~$70) of PC133 memory to improve on the performance and
to adjust to high RAM requirements of newer games.

Next time when the upgrade comes, you will most probably use this graphics
card and the memory you bought (PC133) with a new motherboard and CPU.
