Don't know much about that particular scanner, but are you sure the software
(drivers) are compatible with your particular operating system?
Try going to the manufacturers site and finding out if there are any updated
drivers for the scanner. Also, if you have no joy there, try:
www.driverguide.com .
It does sound like a software problem rather than a hardware one.
Hope this helps

Subject: [PCBUILD] scanner locks up system

> I am trying to install a Microtek ScanMaker V300 scanner to my Celeron 466
running Microsoft ME with 128 MB ram and 6 GB Hard drive. I have the
software cd that came with it but everytime I load it onto my pc it locks up
and will not reboot and if it does only in Safe mode. Then if I unhook it an
uninstall everything then my pc is ok again. Can anybody help.
