Hi,
  I beleive the reason it does not immediately drop them from the list is
because when it issues the IP address (and other parameters) to the computer
via the DHCP, it does it with a lease. This lease is good for between 1 day
to about a month (depending on how the system is set up). So it "reserves"
that IP address for the duration of the lease, by keeping the computer info
on the table, just in case that computer logs back on.
  You can see your lease expiration on Win2000/XP systems by clicking Start>
Run>type in COMMAND to open a DOS window, then type in IPCONFIG /ALL and it
will show you all the parameters for the DHCP, including lease data. On
Win98/ME systems, click Start>Run>type in WINIPCFG and that will show you the
same info.
