Depending on the format, you could save video streams directly from the Web
without daisy-chaining a bunch of stuff together. As for capturing a VCR or
camcorder feed or similar, a dedicated video capture card with a built-in
digital TV tuner would be just the thing for capture pre-recorded stuff and
DVR-ing an off-air broadcast. Mini-DV discs (not tapes) from a camcorder
might playback directly in your DVD drive. There should be enough freeware
floating on the Web to accommodate all your recording needs, and it's just a
