I have never used XP Home, so I can't comment on permissions and security,
which may or may not require you to add users to the XP Home pc so the other
pc's can see it.

I can suggest, since even many experienced users forget, that a networked pc
will not be seen in My Network Places until it is sharing something,
anything. Typically this visibility persists even if you end the share.

If that's not the problem, on the ME pc, try 'search for computers' under my
network places, and tell us if it finds the name of the XP Home pc.

I have an HP with Windows XP Home, which has a firewire port and four USB
Ports. One of the USB ports is connected to a Satellite modem for Internet
Access. I am trying to network it with two older machines running ME. Using
the XP Network Wizard I was able to get all machines to share the Internet
connection, but can't get them to talk to each other on the local area
network.

I even manually entered ip numbers, and can ping each machine to another but
still can't get the other machines to see the XP machine. Any suggestions?
