First question I'd ask is do you have the latest drivers for the Radeon?
Most software developers have had to update/patch their stuff for WinMe.
Sounds like the stuff you're installing is writing incorrectly to the WinMe
registry, which is probably what all the driver/software updates and patches
are about. Some things just don't run in Win Me, which is why I'm not
upgrading (is it really an upgrade?). If Win Me repairs the registry by
removing the Radeon that should tell you that it is not compatible with Win
Me as configured. Win Me has an internal program that fixes stuff like that
by rewriting the hard disk (registry, system, windows)to the way it was
originally (Goback is a program that does that). Go to the Radeon web site
to check for a Win Me driver update. The same may be true of the other
installs that are causing this. On the other machines with Win Me are you
installing the same software with no problems? If so, maybe you have a bad
copy for the difficult machine. I have read, however, that there are lots
of apps and cards that don't run on Win Me without an upgrade, and some
won't run even after that.

Hello, I just installed windows ME on a new machine,
for about the sixth time actually. Every time I install
a new program or in this instance my Ati Radeon drivers
and software I restart the computer and after it reboot
Windows gives me an error message: "Window encountered
an error accessing the registry. Windows will repair the
registry for you and restart the computer."
When it restarts my display has gone back to the original
windows display as if I never installed the Ati driver.

It has done the same thing with the installation of some
other programs. I don't know how to resolve this I've been
working on it for three weeks. I've used zapdisk and started
the installation from scratch about four times and everything
goes ok for a while and then all of a sudden one of the
installations will result in the same afore mentioned error
message. I've installed windows ME on other machines with no
problem but this one is giving me heck. Help! Jeff Greene
