Funny how those things happen.  On restarts my Win Me system stalls for quite a while and gives me a message that it did not find IDE channels 0 and 1, yet it runs perfectly.  On a cold boot this does not happen. I don't know the answer to your problem nor mine, but since mine keeps working just fine, if a little slow on restarts, I stopped worrying.
