I am upgrading my memory in my Gateway computer. I had orginally 64 meg,
but am installing an additional 128 meg. When putting the chip in, I keep
getting beeps. When I take it out, it is fine. The computer works when
just the 64 meg chip is installed, but not when I add the 128. I have
tried removing the 64 meg and putting the 128 in that slot, but the beep
continues. I sent one chip back to Gateway, because as they said, I tried
it in all the slots, with the same results and chances were that the chip
was bad. I got a new chip, and the same thing is happening again. I know
it is installed correctly...there is only one correct way to install the
chip and it sits in the slot and can easily be snapped in place.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Any suggestions
