I had the exactly same symptoms on a AMD Slot A based EP-7KXA mainboard and
after putting in a new power supply all the way to shorting jumpers, it
turned our that the K7 board had gone south, similar to Joe Lore's
experience. Hope this is not the case with you, but it sure sounds like this
may be the problem.
