Jim,

just an idea;
could the growling noise come from a worn-out fan (on the CPU, the box, the
graphics board etc.)?
In that case you might have a heating problem which causes your computer to
crash.

Make sure you have not blocked the ventilation holes of the box, or in any
other way caused a heating problem.

| My PC has broken down. Out of the blue it has decided to die
| on me with the
| following symptoms:
|
| After booting up fine, it tries to load up the O/S (XP) but
| then the loading
| screen disappears, the tower emits a strange growling noise,
| a blue screen
| of death flashes up momentarily, and then the thing reboots.
| It does this in
| a continual loop. With some cunning use of a digital camera,
| I managed to
| record what the BSOD says:
|
| STOP: c000021a (Fatal System Error)
| The Seesion Manager Initialization system process terminated
| unexpectedly
| with a status of 0 x 000026c (0 x 00000000 0 x 00000000)
| The system has been shut down.
