I think your leaning towards the FIC yourself. Your reasoning is good, brand or
no brand. Ever since they did away with the HX chipset I've been using VIA
chipset based boards and don't have any complaints. Actually I find their Bus
Master drivers more user friendly compared to Intels.With RAM as cheap as it is
lately one other thing to consider is the amount or RAM you have or will
eventually have. The TX will not cache above 64MB and I'm pretty certain the
580VP can cache a lot more, probably 256MB or even 512MB, but you'll have to
find out.
