1) How about some details please?  Motherboard, CPU, number of cards 
installed,  number of hard drives installed?

2) What make/model power supply did you purchase to power all of the 
above?  What amperages does it provide on the various rails?  (Should be 
printed on the packaging or the side of the PSU.)

3) Grab a copy of SpeedFan from: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
Then check and report on your CPU temperatures.

4) If it's Windows XP, take a look in the system event log. 
(Right-click on My Computer, Manage, System Tools, Event Viewer, 
System...)  See if there are any Error/Warning messages that seem to be 
related.

The usual culprits are (a) CPU initiates a thermal shutdown due to 
overheating (b) PSU isn't quite powerful enough (c) loose connectors.
