Hi, Ed Bogert

> How come when I try to shutdown Win98SE on my machine it won't shutdown? The floppy drive comes on and stays on while the Windows is shutting down screen comes on and then nothing happens. I've installed the Windows shutdown upgrade and it didn't have any effect on this problem. Otherwise--everything else works fine. Need help. Thanks Ed Bogert [log in to unmask]

I Known problem with Windows 98 i see... There is a update for it at the microsoft website, but you already installed that i see... you can also try to shutoff the fast shutdown option within Win 98.. you are in luck... just read about it in a magazine...

Here's the trick..

Go to Start/Run
Type msconfig and hit enter
In the general tab go to advanced
Than there must be a line called like disable fast shutdown or so. check the box in front of it.
Press ok and than ok again or apply if it's there (i'm using Me so there is for me no option for it).

That must do the job... maybe a reboot after the changes are made is needed maybe.
